Ok, so you’ve learned to change a diaper … now what?
Being a dad doesn’t end once our kids start eating solid foods and burping on their own. Yet support for dads has been limited to a few basic “how-to” and “survival-guide” workshops. Although the information presented in these workshops is important, it’s also incomplete – like an auto repair manual that tells you how to change the oil, but not how to change the spark plugs, transmission fluid or a flat tire.
The Daddy Brain Workshop treats dad as a whole person. It reaches beyond the first-year basics and addresses big life issues including:
THE DISCIPLINE DILEMMA
Positive and negative forms of discipline are discussed, along with some of the adverse affects that negative discipline causes – including physical brain damage and the impairment of brain development. Also touched upon is how we treat our kids on a daily basis, and how we can help them grow into happy, healthy, fulfilled adults.
SECOND-CLASS PARENT SYNDROME
Examines some of the ways dads are perceived by family, friends, society and the media. How he’s often treated as a second-class parent, and portrayed as an incapable idiot. The truth is, modern-day dads are capable of being fully functional parents. Dads are not a stereotype: working men whose duty it is to make the money and steer clear of child raising.
DAD’S EMOTIONAL LIFE
Traditionally, dads have not been encouraged to talk about their emotions. But feelings
like frustration, inadequacy, stress, sadness and fear need to be addressed, not suppressed. Dad’s emotional life has a direct effect on how successful he’s able to parent, and it’s a pivotal factor in his ability to define, set and attain his goals.
GOALS FOR DADS, KIDS AND THE FAMILY
Helps dads discover, define, set and attain their goals – even in the face of obstacles like exhaustion, negative emotions, lack of time and stress. This part of the workshop also includes a healthy dose of motivation, inspiration, integrity builders and a flexible action plan to help dad follow through.
More than a survival guide, The Daddy Brain Workshop is a source to help dads thrive. And, it’s a reminder that they are not alone …
